Talking about Coaching at TEDx TU
Last spring I had the opportunity to give a talk on the importance of Owning Your Professional Development though the process of coaching at The University of Tulsa's TEDx event Truth or Dare. It is a really cool event that is run completely by students who go through the process of taking nominations, selecting speakers, working to develop the talks, and ultimately putting on the show.
I have spent a lot of time talking to reserachers and scholars about the logisitics and effectiveness of coaching, but that is a very different audience than TEDx. The goal here was to pitch an idea to a general audience without getting too technical. The talk was also supposed to be memorized but also feel like a natural discussion of the idea. It was an interesting challenge for someone who gives lectures and academic talks for a living.
See what you think of the talk! It covers the basics of how I approach coaching.
